Philip's portrait + Lambda and its codes
Lambda not enforcing some codes: Pets code for example
There have been pets on Lambda property the last three times I stopped in. I see pets there often.
I love pets. I think
they are good for their owners and for the rest of us.
Nonetheless, Lambda has a code barring pets from its property. (lambdahouston.org)
I personally
am glad no one is enforcing this code. I wonder why it exists.
The point is, Lambda needs
to rethink its current code.
There could be maybe
a few well thought through codes, a list of House Keeping Requests, and a list
of desiderata.
I don't think we
ought to be threatening to throw out anyone.
Houston has plenty of laws
already.
I highly recommend
that Lambda eliminate all the codes that say something like "except with prior
approval from Lambda." That would require a board meeting or a general
membership meeting. Not so? This line is particularly problematic because it
ends up making Sonny, or Little John, or Carter, or Tracey, or whoever happens
to be running the coffee bar equal to "Lambda." Not good in my opinion.
